How many Pinterest boards should you have? The answer is as many as you like! I think the absolute maximum is 500, but I don't advise you having so many! It's best to have boards based on your content so you have somewhere to pin your pins to, but also have some complementary boards in there so you can add value to your ideal client when they are searching for you. If you make bridal jewellery, you'll want to have boards for the different styles of jewellery you make e.g. hair vines, earrings etc but also boards for bridal hair, bridal make up, maybe styled shoots you've been a part of to add extra inspiration - I could go on, but you get the point! For me, it's the freedom. The freedom to take an afternoon off to spend with my little girl if I want. The freedom to do the school runs. The freedom to work wherever and whenever I want. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Last year my daughter was ill and had to spend a week in hospital with pneumonia. I had a wedding cake due that weekend, and rather than let my bride down I ran myself into the ground looking after my daughter, being at the hospital with her every night, and then coming home for a few hours in the daytime when my husband could be with her so I could work, then rushing back over to the hospital. It made me realise I needed to make some changes in my life, and then the pandemic hit and it became EVEN clearer to me. I want no more working on weekends and more time with my family. So here I am! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Basically - don't bother with them. They're not searchable like the hashtags on Instagram and they can look a bit spammy. Pinterest has been sending out mixed messages about hashtags for a while, but now they're saying hashtags aren't relevant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you have pins with hashtags on though, don't worry about it. They won't hurt the pin and NO-ONE has time to go back through old pins making changes, am I right?! Just don't bother for new pins going forward. It's aaaaallll about the future with Pinterest - remember that! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
